Functions of Department
- Mineral Exploration – The exploration activity operates to establish mineral reserves in the State. The 4 regional has carried out extensive exploration in the past and resources have been established at various levels through Pre- Detailed Mineral Survey, Detailed Mineral Survey and Drilling explorations for several industrially important minerals such as Limestone, Bauxite, Manganese , Iron or, Cooper and others. The important functions of the department is to identify mineral resource potential in the State and establish reserves under the applicable legislative framework of the new MMDR Amendment Act, 2015 and Mineral (Evidence of Mineral Content) Rules 2015 After introduction of new MMDR act 2015 and Mineral (Evidence of Mineral Content) Rules – 2015, Department has started mineral exploration as per the norms fixed for auction by Ministry of Mines Government of India. Department is also engaged in the latest technique in exploration through the national Private Exploration Agency.
- Minerals Administration - Mineral Administration is core activity of the Department. It is regulatory part for overall development of mineral sector and collection of mineral revenue to the state.
The relevant activities are:
- Approval to Mineral Exploration
- Approval for authority of Mining blocks
- Lease Inspection,
- Monitoring Mineral production,
- Monitoring DMF,
- Mineral Revenue collection of 35 District offices of the State. Disseminating geological and mineral information on the mineral resources in the State to promote mineral based industries and overall development of mineral sector in the State.
